MLA Places Chris Cheng as Nomad Health’s First General Counsel

Hanover, MD (September 8, 2022) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Chris Cheng as general counsel and corporate secretary at Nomad Health in New York, NY. The search was conducted by Carol Warren Simon, partner, and Tam T.T. Pham, managing director, with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group in San Francisco.

Nomad Health is a Joint Commission Certified technology company that is simplifying the $40 billion healthcare staffing industry. The company has built the first online marketplace for temporary clinical jobs. Nomad offers higher pay to clinicians, lower costs to health systems, and a streamlined, transparent process to the entire market. Nomad is simple, modern healthcare staffing on demand.

Reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer Alexi Nazem, Chris will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and be responsible for the direction and management of all legal matters, including governance and securities, commercial contracts and business transactions, employment law, general corporate work and compliance. As Nomad's first in-house legal hire, Chris will also be charged with building out its legal team.

Chris most recently served as associate general counsel for Zoom Video Communications, leading its global product compliance team and responsible for the delivery of legal support for issues related to compliance, privacy and intellectual property. Prior to joining Zoom, he was head of legal for Uber Works, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Uber Technologies. He also spent six years with Upwork as vice president, associate general counsel and assistant secretary and a few years with eBay as product and commercial counsel. Before moving in-house, he was a corporate associate with both K&L Gates and Perkins Coie. Chris earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and his B.S. from Columbia University.
