MLA Places L. Kent Workman as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Hamilton Beach Brands Holding Company (NYSE: HBB)

Hanover, MD (September 30, 2021) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of L. Kent Workman as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at Hamilton Beach Brands Holding Company (NYSE: HBB) headquarted in Glen Allen, VA. The search was conducted by Deborah Ben-Canaan, partner and senior practice leader in Washington, D.C., and Pamela Salling, director, in Basking Ridge, both with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting practice.

HBB is a leading designer, marketer and distributor of a wide range of branded small electric household and specialty housewares appliances, as well as commercial products for restaurants, fast food chains, bars and hotels. The company’s owned consumer brands include Hamilton Beach®, Hamilton Beach® Professional, Proctor Silex®, Weston® field-to-table and farm-to-table food preparation equipment, TrueAir® air purifiers, and BrightlineTM personal care products including sonic rechargeable toothbrushes.

Reporting to the CEO, Gregory H. Trepp, Kent leads the global legal, compliance, human resources, and corporate secretary organizations, providing results-oriented, business-minded counsel to the CEO, executive leadership team, the board of directors, management and staff in support of the company’s business and strategic objectives.

Kent most recently served as vice president, business development and corporate counsel for Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc. (Nasdaq: COKE), where he established and led the legal organization as the company tripled in size as part of The Coca-Cola Company’s refranchising of the U.S. market.  Prior to joining Coca-ColaCOKE, he spent nearly a decade with Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, most recently as a partner in their corporate and M&A practice.  Kent spent several years as a corporate and M&A associate with Dow Lohnes PLLC and began his legal career with White & Case LLP. Before law school, he was a nuclear surface warfare officer with the United States Navy.  Kent earned his J.D. from University of Virginia Law School, an MBA from Duke University, The Fuqua School of Business and his B.S. from The Citadel.
