Hanover, MD (June 22, 2022) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Marlon F. Starr as Chief Legal Officer at RS&H. The search was conducted by Sheri Michaels, partner, and Casey Feldman, managing director, both with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group.
RS&H is one of the nation’s leading architecture, engineering and consulting firms that has helped pioneers build the launch platforms for the national space program, create global airports that connect communities, shape progressive highway systems across the country and provide facilities for Fortune 1000 companies.
“Marlon’s depth and breadth of experience in risk management and his history of leading strong legal teams will be invaluable as we continue to grow in new and existing markets,” said RS&H Chief Executive Officer David Sweeney.
Marlon will be responsible for overseeing all legal activities of the company and will serve as a key business partner and member of the executive team. He will lead and manage RS&H's corporate governance, complex commercial and government contracts, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance and litigation matters.
“Marlon is the ideal fit for RS&H as he is a consummate team player with a deep and unique combination of experience gained as a partner in private practice and executive lawyer in-house,” said Sheri Michaels. “This was a competitive national search, and he was unanimously selected for this role due to his strong business acumen and prior work experience. We have no doubt he will be highly successful in this endeavor,” added Casey Feldman.
Marlon joins RS&H after spending nearly a decade with a PE-backed digital media company focused on the multi-family housing industry, RentPath, LLC, where he most recently served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to going in-house, he was a partner with Troutman Sanders, LLP and Smith, Gambrell & Russell, beginning his career as an associate and later making partner. Marlon earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law and his B.A. from Tulane University.
