MLA Places Louis Sapirman as Chief Compliance Officer at Panasonic Corporation of North America

Hanover, MD (June 20, 2019) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Louis Sapirman as chief compliance officer at Panasonic Corporation of North America in Newark, NJ. Panasonic is a leading technology partner and integrator to businesses, government agencies and consumers across the region. The search was led by Lee Udelsman, managing partner, and Michael Handler, director, in MLA’s In-House Counsel Practice Group in Basking Ridge, NJ.

In his new role, Louis will lead the company’s ethics and compliance programs for all North America divisions and subsidiaries in various areas including, but not limited to, antitrust, export/import controls, global sanctions, data protection, privacy, and FCPA and UK Bribery Act type laws. Before joining Panasonic, Louis spent 25 years in corporate and private practice. He most recently served as vice president, associate general counsel, chief compliance officer and assistant corporate secretary at Dun & Bradstreet. During his 15-year tenure there, Louis built an award-winning compliance and ethics program, receiving the 2016 SCCE International & Ethics Award.

“Louis brings 25 years of experience in regulatory compliance and crisis management to Panasonic,” said Michael Handler. “He is widely known in the compliance community for having built and implemented best-in-class, award-winning compliance programs, proudly approaching the compliance function from a proactive rather than reactive posture.”

“Louis and Panasonic are well-suited to work in tandem going forward. We at MLA are proud to have brought them together and are excited to see what they will develop, innovate and implement as they work together in the future,” said Lee Udelsman.
