Hanover, MD (December 19, 2019) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Janet L. Kidd as general counsel and secretary for Oxford Immunotec Global PLC (NASDAQ: OXFD). The search was led by Amy B. Katz and Lisa Owens, both of MLA’s In-House Counsel Practice, in Boston and London, respectively.
Oxford Immunotec is a global, publicly-held medical diagnostics company that develops and commercializes novel tests in the fields of infectious and immunological disease. The company has a strong global footprint with joint headquarters in Abingdon, UK, and Marlborough, Mass.
As general counsel and secretary, Janet will join the Oxford Immunotec executive leadership team and manage the global legal and compliance teams. She will have overall responsibility for the vision and leadership of the company’s global legal strategy and risk management, including commercial contracts and transactions, business development, ethics and compliance, corporate governance, public company reporting, data privacy and security, IP, employment, and litigation management.
“This was an exciting search because our client wanted to appoint a seasoned attorney with a combination of leadership, transactional life science, compliance and U.S. public company experience who ideally had worked directly in both the European and U.S. markets,” said Amy Katz. Lisa Owens added, “Janet stood out from the beginning as an outstanding candidate with a strong cultural and substantive fit for the role. Her recent experience as deputy general counsel and VP Legal EMEA for a Boston-based biotechnology company was outstanding for a GC with global responsibilities.”An experienced legal professional with over 20 years of experience in life sciences, Janet was most recently associate general counsel at Wellcome Trust and most relevantly deputy general counsel at Aegerion Pharmaceuticals. Here, she oversaw all legal and compliance activities in EMEA and served on the operating committee. Prior to Aegerion, Janet served in senior in-house legal roles at both Gilead Sciences and Baxter Healthcare, and for three years, she worked with Covington & Burlington LLP advising life science clients on corporate and commercial transactions, with special expertise on global collaborations and cross-border deals. Before her career in law, Janet spent nearly 15 years as a research and development scientist.
