MLA Places Matthew Kane as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with Black Diamond Capital Management LLC

Hanover, MD (December 13, 2023) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, has announced the placement of Matthew Kane as general counsel and chief compliance officer at Black Diamond Capital Management LLC,  a private investment firm specializing in high yield credit, distressed debt, and business turnarounds. The search was conducted by Dimitri Mastrocola, and Allison Rosner, Partner and Director respectively, with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting team in New York.  

As general counsel and chief compliance officer, Matthew will serve as the strategic and operational leader of the firm’s legal and compliance functions. In this role, he will aid the firm in achieving its business goals while managing risk and protecting its reputation.

Matthew joins Black Diamond Capital from Alfred, where he served as general counsel, providing legal and executive leadership for the property technology company. Prior to that, he was general counsel and chief compliance officer at the private equity firm Z Capital Group LLC. He began his legal career as an associate at Storch Amini PC and Wilkie Farr & Gallagher LLP.

Matthew earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and his B.A. from Hamilton College.
